Most Successful New Business Award Nomination
Accountz made the final 3 in the UK Trade and Investment sponsored Business without Borders conference and awards for the most successful new business in 2007 (http://www.bwb.org.uk).The conference and awards ceremony took place at the University of Bedfordshire in Luton. The keynote speaker was Margaret Hodge MP, Minister for the Department of Trade and Industry (pictured with CEO of Accountz, Quentin Pain).
Quentin Pain said "I am absolutely delighted that my company and its very hard working staff have been shortlisted for this prestigious award and would like to extend my thanks to the organisers including Derek Ludlow MBE and Professor Paul Burns for an extremely informative and fun conference on international trade. An interesting perspective on marketing came from Dr Sergio Arzeni [Director, OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)] who turned basic marketing principles upside down by pointing out that consumers now work on a wants basis and not needs, which explained the reason why Harley Davidson made a profit of a $1bn and GM a loss, but not why he was wearing non-branded specs! Ross Walker, Chief Economist at RBS pointed out the dangers of rising interest rates and advised me to invest money in the business rather than property... so the new Accountz HQ will have to wait another year then. Many thanks to all the exciting and optimistic entrepreneurs I met. I had a fabulous day. I would also like to thank Margaret Hodge MBE for agreeing to the photograph despite having to rush off to 'fight our cause in Brussels' - I hope you weren't late."
